Role of Technology in Mexico
The role of technology in our everyday lives is a very valuable one that is often taken for granted. From when we take a photo to show the world of our views and/or interests, or when we use technology to show grandma that the gift she sent was intact and was received well at the household. The technological advances in science has lead us to be able to cure more diseases and fight off famine and as well technological advances helps in the judicial system where evidence is easily acclaimed and is used in order to win in the court of law.
The last listed point is how Mexico is fighting the war against the drug cartel these advances pertain to the eavesdropping on cartel members phone. This can be acquired through various technological actions. Which are the ability to extract messages from phones that have been sent through text, e-mail, and voice mails as well.
Another way that the police is using phones to their distinct advantage is via the phones' microphone that is used for calls etc. this is acquired through a Trojan viruses that takes over the microphone, records any conversation/useful data, and then sends it back to the station where officers can analyze the evidence. The Mexican Department of Defense have developed a radar that can detect people through walls this technological advancement is being used in police forces today but for whatever reason, is still unknown.
Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Mexico did not invest in technology as greatly as it could of. Mexico recovered from a major macroeconomic crisis, with the best intent than its other Latin America countries. Mexico at the time, needed to focus on developing their science and technology advances in order to have better health for the citizens, better agriculture (etc.), to keep eye on the climate and the environment that was around Mexico along with many other reasons. Mexico hopes to developed these ideas into reality through a science and technology agreement. I could not find a document that stated that this agreement has been signed and the ideals that follow in it have been acted out.
Mexico is trying to use technology to bring cleaner water and better health conditions to the resident that live near the US-border. Due to the lack of moisture in the area, the unexpected climate change of the area, this leads to the water to be below the standards of perfect conditions and thus they carry diseases. Mexico is trying to improve the water by having non-centralized water treatment centers and by having in the homes of those who rely on the water that is unsanitary to have a Gravity-fed Ultrafiltratio. This uses gravity to purify the water that is suspected to be unpar with standards, thus it does not need any electricity or gas, just let gravity do its work.
